[there are a few unusual things about this here transmission: first, Sora's sending out a few text messages. they're... not exactly his first choice for communicating; he prefers being able to see someone's face when he's talking to them. that and he's painfully slow with hunting and pecking on a keyboard. he's got a good reason for going the text route today, though.]

Is everybody okay? I know all kinds of weird stuff's happened, and I want to make sure nobody's hurt.

[-- and unusual thing number two. though Sora is not much of a typist, he does at least try to make his texts grammatically correct. oh screw it, typing with one hand is annoying.]

[shortly after mashing the "send" button, Sora tosses his 'gear in front of him on the bed and sighs. tries to sigh. Bell waddles over to to where the 'gear hit the covers and turns it over and over with her tiny arm stubs, prii'ing happily to herself. feel free to make a video call, though you may be chatting with a Togepi at first.]

[if you happen to enter the pokécenter in Goldenrod, you might hear Sora arguing feebly with a nurse and basically being the worst patient ever.]

[Nurse Joy is not fazed by your glare, Rise. she's dealt with worse patients than Sora-- maybe... he's pretty bad.]

Is this boy a friend of yours? Maybe you can get him to cooperate; we're only trying to help.

[Sora could not pout any harder over here.]

[ she's replying instantly, with no hesitation whatsoever. ]

And it can't hurt him if I take him out for a little bit, can it? He should calm down once he gets some fresh air, and I won't let him push himself.

[ someone definitely knows what it's like being forced to rest, after all. ]

[Sora will just be silently scooting so he's half-standing behind Rise-- Nurse Joy stares hard at the both of them, then just. siiiighs. maybe the kid would calm down if he had some fresh air.]

All right. Just don't stay out too long, and keep an eye on him.

[ she carefully eases an arm around his shoulders, guiding him towards the door. ]

[he'll stumble along with her guiding him, looking up at Rise with a relieved smile. there aren't a lot of things that Sora hates, but one of them is definitely being cooped up in bed all day.]

Don't mention it, little brother. [ Rise does the typical gentle hair ruffle with her free hand, smiling warmly-- though she's still concerned. ] I know how boring it is to have to stay stuck for recovery.

[he leans on her shoulder a bit.]

... [ thinking something over, then nodding. ] I'll stay with you when I take you back.

[he responds to that encouragement all too easily, leaning a bit more of his weight on her.]

I don't wanna go back. And-- they didn't say, actually. How long does it take to heal cracked ribs?

Usually months. The agency always told us to be careful because of that. [ the additional weight isn't much, so she adjusts readily enough. ] I think it depends on how badly they're cracked, though.

... [ frowns slightly. ] And how'd you even crack your ribs, anyway?

I don't remember. Nurse Joy said I probably fell from somewhere high up or got in a fight or something.

[and because he's about 100 percent comfortable around, Rise, he steps back momentarily to go ahead and lifts the shirt of his Totodile jammies to show her. that's definitely a very distinct boot print.]
