keychained | [018; video/action for goldenrod]

[hey there, Johto! it's New Year's Eve, and as such the network is receiving a video feed from Father Time himself-- who knows where the hobbling little bearded old man came from, but he's currently curled up warm and toasty leaning up against the inn at Goldenrod, with his hat and his windbreaker and his scarf and his Girafarig blanket and-- wait. it's just Sora.]

[it appears he's wearing as many Christmas presents as he could pile on today (yes, the beard was a Christmas present. it's long and gray and glorious and one of these days he'll notice the stuffed pidgey in there, too). and when he starts speaking, it sounds like Father Time is having a really difficult... time... keeping a straight face.]

... My egg exploded into a dinosaur! See? [the feed turns to reveal a very tiny Tropius-- even though she's just a baby, it's pretty obvious that she's on the small side... probably around knee height to Trainer. the Tropius squeaks in greeting and flaps a leaf like she's trying to wave.]

The pokédex said that these guys start to grow their favorite fruit around their necks because it's the only thing they eat. Sooo, I was wondering... Has anybody seen a star-shaped fruit around? I already checked the stores here, but no luck.

[ Kairi only laughs in response and stretches her arms out in front of her before she rolls onto her side to face him. ]

You'd be sad if I stopped, and you know it.

Well, yeah, someone has to keep me on my toes.

[pffff, he laughs.]

How are you feeling right now, anyway?

Warmer. [ possibly because her face is starting to match her hair. ] And a little tired, but I'm okay. What about you?

Doing fine...

[he'll touch her forehead gently to see if there's any heat to go with that red face.]

Definitely not sick, right...?

[ she can't truthfully say the same on her end, since there's enough heat there to warm his fingers. ]

Don't think so. Why don't you lie down for a bit? I'll stay up and wait for the food.

Are you sure? It shouldn't take long.

[ ... proof that she isn't feeling well if her first reaction wasn't NO WAY I'M FINE :T ]

Definitely sure. Relax, I'm not gonna eat your share.

Oh yeah, that's exactly what I was worried about.

[ it's in a softer grumble, though. Now that she's not actively trying to keep up a HUNKY DORY front, Kairi's already drooping a little. ]

Oh, I know. That's why I'm telling you not to worry!

[gives her shoulder a little squeeze, urging her to lie down and rest.]

[ that earns him a tiny snort, an "Oh you" reaction, really-- but she wriggles down into a comfier, slightly curled position, not quite caring enough to move to a different bed and with the Girafarig blanket not wrapped as tightly around her as before. ]

[Sora's in a little better shape health-wise at the moment, so he'll slide off the bed when room service comes a knocking-- he gets to pay, too, ahahahaha victory! he's not really feeling very victorious when he sets the trays down at the table near the bed and flops back down. just gonna rest for a second, honest.]

[ Kairi's more than half-asleep as it is-- she's dozing lightly by the time the food shows up, still curled up and not so much as twitching when Sora returns. ]

[after a minute, it occurs to him that someone should probably eat that food... he lifts his head.]

Hey, Kairi?

[ my sincerest apologies, but your princess is in another dream.

That is to say, no response. Yet. ]

Kaaaaiiiriii... [pokepokepoke wake up princess--]

[ noooooooooooooo-- okay, fine. Sort of. The poking gets a sleepy noise that could be a grumble and she shifts, uncurls...

... and curls back up. I DON'T WANNA. ]

[... if Riku happens to come back, he'll be walking in on a pretty pathetic duo. but Sora's grudgingly lifting himself out of bed to try to figure out what to do with their food. that sort of translates to him standing by the table and staring blankly at it for several minutes, before he thinks to wrap it up and stick it in the little fridge by the door. there we go.]

[then he'll trudge to the bathroom and fetch a washcloth for Kairi-- her comfort is more important :| Sora will try not to wake her when he drapes it across her forehead.]

[ he half-succeeds, anyway. Kairi's eyes half-open under the weight of COLD CLOTH, but her current expression's pretty reminiscent of the one she had when she didn't have a heart. Just a dark-eyed, blank stare. Granted, this has nothing to do with lack of heart and everything to do with lack of coherent thought at the moment.

Hopefully Riku's a less pitiful sight than both of them right now. ]

[... if he can still have his heart in Johto, even when he's 99% positive that he's not supposed to, then there's no reason Kairi shouldn't have hers. especially when there's no reason for her to lose it again. still, that look on her face strikes a chord of fear in him, so he climbs back in bed and... tugs on her arm a little. don't be dead, bff ): ]

[ far from it, bff. She's got to be around to bring him back at some point, after all. The arm moves in response, and she blinks, still very much groggy but aware of certain things after a moment. Oh. Hi. ] Sora...?

... Sorry. Go back to sleep.

[ That sounds tempting. It really does, but half-asleep feverish princesses don't do so well with forming intelligent thoughts when they've just woken up. And so her response is a very tiny, nonsensical-- ]
