[hey there, Johto! it's New Year's Eve, and as such the network is receiving a video feed from Father Time himself-- who knows where the hobbling little bearded old man came from, but he's currently curled up warm and toasty leaning up against the inn at Goldenrod, with his hat and his windbreaker and his scarf and his Girafarig blanket and-- wait. it's just Sora.]

[it appears he's wearing as many Christmas presents as he could pile on today (yes, the beard was a Christmas present. it's long and gray and glorious and one of these days he'll notice the stuffed pidgey in there, too). and when he starts speaking, it sounds like Father Time is having a really difficult... time... keeping a straight face.]

... My egg exploded into a dinosaur! See? [the feed turns to reveal a very tiny Tropius-- even though she's just a baby, it's pretty obvious that she's on the small side... probably around knee height to Trainer. the Tropius squeaks in greeting and flaps a leaf like she's trying to wave.]

The pokédex said that these guys start to grow their favorite fruit around their necks because it's the only thing they eat. Sooo, I was wondering... Has anybody seen a star-shaped fruit around? I already checked the stores here, but no luck.

[ Kairi doesn't have a glorious beard, but she's just as warmly bundled otherwise, and she's got-- another Tropius in tow, one who isn't very steady on its feet and has to lean against Kairi for support, but still a bit bigger than Tropitiny. ... It's also got a scarf. ]

I haven't seen any, either.

[Derp!Yuffie is derp, and hasn't noticed that Sora is Sora. She has noticed the Tropius however and come to crouch down beside it. She's recovered from her bug trauma yesterday and Creepey the Nincada is nestled safely in a Poekee ball]

Hey there little guy, what kind of Poekee are you?

[upon seeing her, Sora'd scrambled to his feet-- when Kairi speaks, he pauses, and... strokes his beard thoughtfully.]

Well... She might not even like 'em, even we we found some... It'd be cool to be able to grow Paopu fruits here, though.

[that bearded hobo nearby is watching you suspiciously, Yuffie... but then he pipes up with a grin.]

Hey, Yuffie! She's a Tropius.

Yeah... but I got a few reminders for Christmas, and maybe when the weather's better, we can try again!

[ ... hopefully without the beard. ]

*walking on out of the hotel, a Ralts in his arms-- pausing as Sora speaks up.*

... I've never even heard of a star-shaped fruit before.

[what, does Sora not wear facial hair well or something? :| but he smiles at that, a little embarrassed.]

Maybe! They're definitely not even in season yet, anyway.

[ No. No, he doesn't. ]

If I'd known you were here this long, I would have brought some with me.

Really? What kind of fruit do you eat back home, Hayate?

[dusting himself off now that he's standing-- he's more or less forgotten that he's even wearing the beard by now.]

What kind...? Um... The normal type? Bananas, apples, oranges... That kind of thing.

[ there's a smile there, albeit a distant one. It's odd now, to think that she so happily talked to Vanitas about them, and that whole conversation's been hovering over her head lately. ]

[ Sora's the last person she wants worrying, especially when she heard from Naminé about what he's been through here. So Kairi shakes her head. He knows her too well for her to fake a smile, so she glances away instead. ]

--ah, actually, not really... *shifting about the Ralts in his arms* Do you like coconuts, Sora-san?

[this is... a very awkward conversation when he's currently sporting a Merlin beard. so Sora pries it off, revealing that he's frowning.]

[...and guess who's just going to be raising his eyebrow at you, with his teeny tiny little baby Electrike poking it's head out from under the top of his scarf. RED EYES. STARING AT YOU, SORA. FEEL FREE TO WONDER WHAT THE HECK THEY ARE.]

...since when did you hit puberty, Sora? [HIS ATTEMPT AT HUMOR. Don't laugh at him, okay!]

... [ at that, Kairi tenses-- just by the slightest amount, but it's pretty obvious guilt is radiating off of her in HUGE WAVES. Because the answer's normally yes, but she's pretty sure going HEY SO HELMET HEAD KIND OF BOTHERED ME isn't a very festive talk to be having. ]

[-- Heartless?! no, wait, red eyes... Sora scrambles to his feet, his beard unfolding to display all of its glory... it doesn't quite reach his feet like Merlin's might, but it is about waist-length.]

It was overnight puberty, Mister Phoenix!

... Please? C'mon, we'll work it out together.

[...if possible, his eyebrow rises even further, but there's also a bit of a grin on his face. Oh, you.]

What, like a growth spurt? _{Thats...pretty dramatic.}

[ silence for a few minutes. And then Kairi sighs and lifts her eyes up. Just a little. ]

Sora... I met him.

F-Favorite-?! I... I see... *taking note of this, before he shifts the Ralts some more, which prompts her to turn her head to look at Sora and gives a tiny graceful wave.* Mm, this is Miya! She's an absolutely adorable little Ralts. ♥
