[Sora's taking a break from traveling on Route 30 this morning to train a brand new friend he'd captured a few days ago in the Dark Cave-- the feed turns on, the camera focused up on Sora and a silly old bear, who is currently wobbling on his tiny feet and trying to mimic his trainer's pose.]

Is it on, Dapper? Good! Hey, you guys!

[he waves-- this is becoming the customary pokégear greeting for Sora. the Teddiursa at his feet waves a stubby little arm, too.]

I thought I'd show everyone out there training some warm-ups I learned from a good friend back in Traverse Town. They're called stoutness exercises, and they always helped me loosen up before a long day of fighting! Ready?

[there's an enthusiastic "Weedle!" from somewhere off-camera. oh look, Mr. Crankypants is going to try it, too.]

All you need to do is stretch your arms waaaaaay above your head, hold it there, then bend down and touch your toes, and hold it. Just stretch as high as you can, Dapper, okay? Do that ten times! Up, down, touch the ground!

[they slowly go through the motions of ten reps-- the Teddiursa is trying his darndest, but is having some issues actually touching his toes, and somersaults right onto his back on the last attempt. Sora bends down to help the little guy back on his feet, managing not to laugh.]

Good job, everyone! And now we eat.

Okay, you ready? It's easy! You just go up--

[and he streeeetches his arms toward the sky. the Teddiursa nearby mimics his trainer, stretching as high as his little stubby arms will allow.]

-- and then you go down, and touch the ground, like this!

[Sora bends down and stretches, planting his palms flat against the ground. if Ven had caught him a few months ago, before he left Destiny Islands, he never would have been able to do that. the Teddiursa performs another spectacular somersault at this step.]

Alright, my turn!

[Ven mimicks Sora's actions, albeit without the practiced fluency]

That's a pretty good exercise.

It is! I always used to do it before we landed on new worlds.

[bends down to scoop up the cuddly fluffball of a bear-- the Teddiursa flails wildly at Ven in greeting.]

Hey there, Teddy-bear!

Mmm... Ven, are the worlds safe for you back home?

[oh man, that absolutely delights the Teddiursa, now he's flailing and waving furiously. it's all Sora can do to keep from dropping him.]

[...a fitting teammate for Sora, Ven can't help but smile. it falters a little as he thinks about the worlds back home, however]

They...hopefully will be, after I take care of something.

You mean... Master Xehanort, right?

Yeah, sort of. I have to deal with the darkness he took from me, and keep that weapon from being used.

[tries to remember what Ven told him earlier.]

Your darkness became something new, right? How does that work?

I'm not really sure how it works. All I know's that I'll hav to fight him when I go home.

... Whenever we meet up, let's train really hard, okay? All of us-- our Pokémon, too. It sounds like we both have something important waiting for us at home.

Yeah, let's do our best.

Yeah! We are gonna meet up soon, right? I think we're pretty close to Cherrygrove right now-- hey, stop squirming!

[the Teddiursa has taken Ven's words entirely to heart, and is trying to do the stoutness exercises while still in Sora's arms. after a minute of trying to hang on, he sets the teddy bear down on the ground.]

That's where Aqua and I are, so it sounds like we'll be seeing each other soon for sure.

[Oh my, Ven's gotta laugh a little at that. Somehow that little bear's really reminding him of Sora now]

Yeah, uh-- Terra told us to go back to Violet, but I'm kind of out of money... and most of my food...

[Sora looks just a little bit sheepish. Teddiursa, meanwhile, stretches his arms a little too high in the air and topples right over again-- he'll get it right one of these days.]

...Tell you what, we'll take you and Riku out to lunch when you get here.

And if you want to give me a few pointers about Heartless, I'll pay you for the lesson.

Ooh, great! But you don't have to pay me, Ven. It's good to have people to train with!

I still plan on training with you, but you're short on funds and I could stand to learn more about something I might see more of, so I think it's a fair trade.

How about we just think of lunch as payment? The only thing I'm really buying nowadays is food anyway.

It's gonna have to be a really good lunch in that case...

[if Sora finds some extra snacks stuffed in his backpack afterward, it wasn't Ventus]

I can't wait, then! It's gonna be great to finally hang out together.

[Ven is going to make Sora porky if he sneaks him too many snacks! hopefully Puddles wouldn't find them first.]

[nah, they'll be training so it'll balance out]

Terra and Aqua have Keyblades, too, right? We'll all train together!

That'll be great, I bet we'll all learn something new.

It's... kinda nice, actually. For the longest time I thought I was alone with the Keyblade.
