[Sora's taking a break from traveling on Route 30 this morning to train a brand new friend he'd captured a few days ago in the Dark Cave-- the feed turns on, the camera focused up on Sora and a silly old bear, who is currently wobbling on his tiny feet and trying to mimic his trainer's pose.]

Is it on, Dapper? Good! Hey, you guys!

[he waves-- this is becoming the customary pokégear greeting for Sora. the Teddiursa at his feet waves a stubby little arm, too.]

I thought I'd show everyone out there training some warm-ups I learned from a good friend back in Traverse Town. They're called stoutness exercises, and they always helped me loosen up before a long day of fighting! Ready?

[there's an enthusiastic "Weedle!" from somewhere off-camera. oh look, Mr. Crankypants is going to try it, too.]

All you need to do is stretch your arms waaaaaay above your head, hold it there, then bend down and touch your toes, and hold it. Just stretch as high as you can, Dapper, okay? Do that ten times! Up, down, touch the ground!

[they slowly go through the motions of ten reps-- the Teddiursa is trying his darndest, but is having some issues actually touching his toes, and somersaults right onto his back on the last attempt. Sora bends down to help the little guy back on his feet, managing not to laugh.]

Good job, everyone! And now we eat.

[after a few minutes of quietly considering this, Sora cracks up laughing.]

[ ... and there she goes, too. ]

I couldn't be prouder, Dapper! You'll be an even better pranker once you evolve.

[snorts.]

I really wonder what he'll turn into.

I think Roxas said he'll turn into a Beedrill, but I don't really know what that looks like-- ah! Hang on a second, Kay.

[Sora sets the pokégear down, and although the feed is sideways, it's pretty easy to tell what's going on: Dapper has decided it wants to evolve right this second, and is scooching toward a poor, unsuspecting Caterpie nearby.]

A Bee-- [ Sora is probably going to miss the look of OH GOD NO crossing her face, but Kay is somewhat easily distracted, and MORTAL COMBAT between bugs is something she can't pass up viewing. ]

[it's probably more spectacular than beetle fighting, anyway. though Dapper is a few levels higher than the bugs along Route 30, so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge.]

Dapper, hit it with a Poison Sting!

[and Dapper launches himself spectacularly in the air with a high-pitched battle cry, diving headfirst-- stinger first-- right into the poor Caterpie's back.]

He's definitely part ninja. Go, Dapper, go!

[something a little different than Sora's used to happens this time around, though in this case a little different is probably a major understatement. the second Dapper makes contact with the Caterpie, he appears to simply explode into a burst of white light.]

Dapper!

[oh geez, he's killed his own Pokémon-- he's turned him into a Heartless! what has Sora done?!]

--! Whoa, did the evolving talk have that much of an effect?!

[apparently so-- either that, or Dapper's been on the cusp of evolving for a while. Sora dashes over and scoops his bug up off the ground, though there's two things that catch him completely off guard: one, he doesn't get stung, and two, Dapper is now twice his normal size. and immobile.]

-- What the heck? You're not a Beedrill, are you?

[Sora turns Dapper upside down and around, inspecting him, much to the brand new Kakuna's dismay-- he can only whine in response.]

I guess he's only in the second stage. [ observing curiously. ] He looks like a cocoon. A reeeeaaaaally grumpy one.

... Oh, I get it! You've still got some growing to do before you can be a full-fledged Beedrill, huh Dapper?

[Sora holds him to the pokégear proudly-- enjoy the death glare, Kay, though yeah, that's definitely just Dapper's default expression now.]

By the way, don't let him go around stinging people when he's full-grown! Beedrill stings hurt.

[ Kay beams at the pissy-looking Kakuna, however. ]

Look at you! You'll be big and sharp and deadly in no time!

You sound like you're speaking from experience. I'll make sure he doesn't sting anybody, though!

[Dapper can't give any expression other than Death Glare, but if the noise he's making is any indicator, Kay's made him quite a happy bug in saying that.]

Me? [ she shakes her head. ] I've just seen it happen. But since I like this one, I can handle him being a Beedrill.

Maybe once he evolves again, we can all go doorbell ditching!

Yeah! He'll be able to fly then!

[it's starting to become apparent where Dapper gets his delinquent tendencies.]

Yeah! -- Wait, do you think the police would get mad if we did?

It's not hurting anyone, right?

And besides, it's not like they weren't kids once.

That's true. Maybe we should wait until they catch the criminals running around right now.

... And until Heather's warrant wears off.

Maybe if I steal their attention, they won't try to find her as hard.

... What are you gonna do? I don't want you to get in trouble, either!

Don't worry about it, Sora. Trouble's not always a bad thing.
