Re: 001; video/action for New Bark Town
[memories are a strange thing.]
[on some days, one could stand up from their seat, head out the door with a determined fire in their eyes, and... completely forget what they got up for in the first place. sometimes retracing one's steps doesn't even help. other days, one could have a song from their childhood stuck in their head without any particular reason. it's as if one's brain simply decided to turn on a recording.]
[other days still, you could be minding your own business, when suddenly, bam! something triggers an onslaught of memories you didn't know you had, if they're even yours to begin with. apparently, this phenomenon hurts one's noggin quite a bit.]
[in any case, this may explain why a confused but energetic kid steps out of Mom's house in New Bark Town, 'gear and gear in hand, and... promptly faceplants. for those of you watching the feed, it cuts in when the pokégear hits the ground. this unfortunate memory victim is down for the count for a few minutes-- at least, until that familiar pop of a pokéball can be heard offscreen, and a Girafarig appears on screen to start chewing on his trainer's mess of brown spiky hair.]
[considering where Sora is from, and where he is-- and the Girafarig, too-- this is entirely normal. when the feed finally times out, Sora's awake and coherent enough to try to bat Puddles away. worst alarm clock ever, honestly.]

That's why you have to get plenty of sleep-- you know, the more sleep you get, the more awesome you are. [that means, of course, that Sora is about as awesome as he possibly can be.]
-- Hey, have you seen Douglas around, Heather?
Well, obviously.
-- ... Uh. Douglas? [At first she assumes he means the PERSON, but then she remembers-- oh. Uh. Whoops. Detective Poliwhirl. Her expression turns a bit rueful.]
Sorry, man... I haven't seen him since we were both in Olivine.
... Oh. Well I'm sure he's around somewhere. Just... gotta find him, right? And everybody else I'm missing.
Hey, I'm sure he's all right, wherever he is.
Probably off solving mysteries for wild Pokemon, I bet.
[She tries her best to sound encouraging, even though... yeah she doesn't have any idea where Doug or any of the other Pokemon belonging to disappeared trainers went.]
[because the idea of Douglas fulfilling his dream out there somewhere makes him happy. and it's a lot better than worrying about whether he isn't.]
[And if he DOESN'T, then... Heather is all too happy to assume that Douglas is off solving mysteries, too.]
... And then I'll just have to beat you in another spaghetti eating contest.
It's on, little man.
Anyway, I letcha win.
[SHE TEASES, SHE TEASES. Maybe she'll take him on in the spaghetti-eating fight in earnest this time.
And what's that?
And what'll the stakes be, huh tough guy?
[Hmmm....]
... walk Cujo for me for three days. In the morning.
[awww yeaaaah gettin younger kids to do her chores for her. 8)]
[and Sora catches himself, clapping his hands over his mouth. NO SORA DON'T TELL HER THAT.]
Oh, okay! I'll make it a week then!
[just act traumatized, little bro.]
A whole week?
A whole week.
[hmmm...]
You'll have to eat dessert right afterward. And I get to pick the dessert.
[protip he wouldn't actually make her do this. winning and officially being more hardcore than his big sister would be prize enough.]
I think I can do that.
[... unless the point is that it's coming after trying to eat a GIANT PLATE OF SPAGHETTI-- oh.]
