[memories are a strange thing.]

[on some days, one could stand up from their seat, head out the door with a determined fire in their eyes, and... completely forget what they got up for in the first place. sometimes retracing one's steps doesn't even help. other days, one could have a song from their childhood stuck in their head without any particular reason. it's as if one's brain simply decided to turn on a recording.]

[other days still, you could be minding your own business, when suddenly, bam! something triggers an onslaught of memories you didn't know you had, if they're even yours to begin with. apparently, this phenomenon hurts one's noggin quite a bit.]

[in any case, this may explain why a confused but energetic kid steps out of Mom's house in New Bark Town, 'gear and gear in hand, and... promptly faceplants. for those of you watching the feed, it cuts in when the pokégear hits the ground. this unfortunate memory victim is down for the count for a few minutes-- at least, until that familiar pop of a pokéball can be heard offscreen, and a Girafarig appears on screen to start chewing on his trainer's mess of brown spiky hair.]

[considering where Sora is from, and where he is-- and the Girafarig, too-- this is entirely normal. when the feed finally times out, Sora's awake and coherent enough to try to bat Puddles away. worst alarm clock ever, honestly.]

I'm good now! [a little less confused, a little more weirded out at lost time, but he can deal. he'll learn to deal. the headache's worn off, too.]

[he lifts a hand, rubbing at his forehead.]

[a nod; she'll hold him to that but won't press the issue. He'll call, she's sure of it.]

We're in Ecruteak right now. Should be moving on in a few days.

Well, we'll probably bump into each other at some point, then. Is Hope still with you?

Provided we don't go down there to get you, first. [said with a tiny smirk; anything could happen, after all.]

Hope's in Olivine right now. He should be happy to see you again.

[Sora's face, meanwhile, spreads into a huge grin that looks like it might hurt. he wouldn't mind meeting up with Lightning and the others.]

I'll have to see if I can't track him down, then. How come you guys separated?

[Of course he wouldn't. She's not likely to flip him like a turtle this time around, after all.]

He wanted to stay in town for a while longer. Leon and I wanted to get a move on, but Hope said he'd catch up eventually.

[And, despite all her worrying about him, she does trust lil' bro to keep his head outta trouble.]

[Sora would agree with that sentiment; he always thought Hope the more level-headed of his other friends his age. maybe even moreso than Riku.]

I feel like I've fallen even further behind than I was beforehand. Are you still training people, Lightning?

[When he uses his head, Hope is the more level-headed one. But, just like everyone else, he's prone to temper bursts. And what that happens...whoo boy.]

Yeah, I'm still training people. But I'm still not going to go easy on you, even if you've fallen behind.
