[memories are a strange thing.]

[on some days, one could stand up from their seat, head out the door with a determined fire in their eyes, and... completely forget what they got up for in the first place. sometimes retracing one's steps doesn't even help. other days, one could have a song from their childhood stuck in their head without any particular reason. it's as if one's brain simply decided to turn on a recording.]

[other days still, you could be minding your own business, when suddenly, bam! something triggers an onslaught of memories you didn't know you had, if they're even yours to begin with. apparently, this phenomenon hurts one's noggin quite a bit.]

[in any case, this may explain why a confused but energetic kid steps out of Mom's house in New Bark Town, 'gear and gear in hand, and... promptly faceplants. for those of you watching the feed, it cuts in when the pokégear hits the ground. this unfortunate memory victim is down for the count for a few minutes-- at least, until that familiar pop of a pokéball can be heard offscreen, and a Girafarig appears on screen to start chewing on his trainer's mess of brown spiky hair.]

[considering where Sora is from, and where he is-- and the Girafarig, too-- this is entirely normal. when the feed finally times out, Sora's awake and coherent enough to try to bat Puddles away. worst alarm clock ever, honestly.]

Why wouldn't I? [best... not to dwell on it too long, right? right! have a smile, Xion.]

How're you? How's Bell doing? I feel like we haven't talked in a while.

Because you were just... I mean, you were here, then you disappeared. And again. And now this?

[ She's so confused... but nonetheless, she really is happy to see him again. Better that he remembers her, too! And Bell! So, wait... does this mean he might remember their last conversation...? ]

We... really haven't I guess.

... I'm sorry, Xion. But m'not going anywhere for a long time, okay? I promise.

[the answer to that question would be yes, he does. but catching up, as it were, is more important to him than thinking about that right this second. making sure she's doing all right counts more.]

No, it's not your fault. This is something we can't control, right?

[ Ohh, heart daddy, where've you been? ;w; ]

Are you all right? [ The way he was before... sort of reminded her of her own memory headache. And yes, it's a term now. ]

I guess not... And yeah, I'm fine! My head really hurt all the sudden for a second there.

If you say so... [ She still worries, of course. Oh, and since he asked... ]

Hey, Bell. Come here, look who's back!

[ The Gear shifts and say hello to Bell the Togekiss, Sora! She chirps happily! Spiky-haired trainer! You're back again! ]

[pretty much every one of Sora's heart children have had the dreaded memory headache, it was high time Sora himself did, too.]

Hey, Bell-- wha-- wow, she evolved again! I've never seen anything like that before.

[ She laughs slightly at his surprise. Bell tries to smash her face against the Gear, as a way of trying to translate her usual way of greeting aka HUG THEIR FACE TO DEATH. She flies off and perches on Xion's shoulder. ]

Yeah, she's a Togekiss now. Namine actually has one, too. I got a bunch of others, too!

Really? Like what? Can I see?

Wait a bit.

[ Good thing she's by the beach, too, as two of her pokemon will really need that. Xion makes it so the Gear can see what she's doing while she takes out some of her pokeballs. Axel actually walks into the fray, showing his new form as a hulking Typhlosion while Xion throws out three pokeballs, two of them heading to the ocean. ]

Bahamut, Feebas, and Gyarados!

[ And out pops a slightly bigger than normal Gible, opening his mouth as he comes out of his ball. Then a Feebas splashes out of the water and floats to stare at her trainer. And then... there's the Gyarados, who roars in greeting. Xion turns to the Gear. ]

See?

[this is the face of a boy who's several thousand flavors of impressed. heck, he's even impressed with the Feebas, if only because he's never seen one before.]

You've really been busy, huh? You've got plenty of badges too, right?

[ now that I think about it, shouldn't it be more 'memory' daddy? ]

I'd like that, though, I wouldn't want to trouble them if they wanted to go someplace else.

[... maybe it's both.]

I don't mind waiting for a little while if you want.

You sure? ... Even I have to admit I'd like to get myself moving.

'Course I'm sure! We could cheer each other on.
