[as with any other resident of Johto, Sora is drawn out of sleep by that giant flash of light and what sounded almost like the earth cracking open-- all things considered? this is entirely possible. so he clambers out of bed-- Bell is the only one of his Pokémon who sleeps out of the ball, so he grabs her along with his 'gear, too. not that he notices his other Pokémon are mysteriously missing-- and practically stumbles out of the inn in Violet to check out what the heck just happened.]

[except he's not in Violet. he's in Goldenrod.]

What the--

[so Sora's now standing in the middle of the street, barefoot and in his pajamas-- they're blue with little Totodiles. don't judge-- and holding one little Togepi in his arms. looks like it's just the two of them for now.]

[after a few minutes of stunned silence, Sora finally thinks to turn on the video feed.]

Hey! Is everybody okay?

[The fist connects to his cheek, and it only cuts that amused look short, turning his smile into a snarl. No, it didn't really hurt at all, it was a matter of pride that he got a blow in at all. Standing up out of reach now, he lifted his foot and stomped hard on Sora's chest.

[he yells that as if he actually expects Vanitas to listen-- somewhere in his mind he has the thought to grab at the foot breaking his ribs with his hands. if he can get a good grip, he's going to yank hard to throw Vanitas off balance.]

[Jerking his foot out of that grip, Vanitas swipes a kick into his side then.] Stop? Why should I. [Stepping on one arm and pressing his weight onto it, a sneering curve in his lips.]

You were the one who wanted to do this to me. You wouldn't hesitate to kick and stomp until I ceased to exist. [Grinding the heel of his boot into his elbow now, Vanitas' expression grew sadistic.]

Don't think you can lie to me, Sora. You're not all that you pretend to be. If you were supposed to be such a good person, you would have been born with a pure heart, right?

[ SO HEY. Carpet is not sure how it got here, or really, where here is. But it does know that some guy... who could be Sora's evil twin... is beating the crap out of Sora.

And Carpet doesn't like that very much.

SO CUE THE SUPERMAN THEME as Carpet flings itself quite viciously at Vanitas, attempting to toss him off of Sora ]

[he's not really moving all that much anymore, and for some reason he thinks he's seeing Vanitas being attacked by a blanket... no, wait... is that Carpet?]

[he plants a hand on the ground, trying to push himself back up, but now that the adrenaline's starting to wear off, there's not much doing.]

[Letting out a snarl, Vanitas had to take a few steps back to wrestle with the carpet before throwing it to the ground and beginning to advance on Sora again.]

[Only he's not getting that far, because a boy in rather similar apparel comes launching at him from who-knows-where, tackling the guy before he can get at Sora again]

[ Luckily, Carpet is pretty quick on its... uh, tassels, so it's up and heading for Sora rather quickly.

And with Vanitas suddenly... occupied, that buys Carpet some time to be a little careful as it scoops up Sora and beats a hasty retreat ]

[Being tackled away from his victim, Vanitas growled out a harsh sound and rolled, sharply kicking the new arrival on the scene when he spies the carpet scooping up Sora and taking him away.]

[But that's really not enough to derail him, giving Vanitas a punch in return before he's picking himself up and moving between this guy and that retreating rug. He's pretty sure it'll get Sora someplace safer than this]
