[It's been a long day of traveling and training- well, okay, traveling and watching Puddles graze instead of battling- but today was not an entire waste! Now that things have settled down a little, Sora can focus on a new task he's assigned himself: he's managed to scrounge up a pen and a few small scraps of paper, though he'll write all over his map if he needs to. When the video flips on, that's exactly what he's doing, hunched over with his tongue poking out in concentration as he scribbles.]

[After a moment, he looks up, like he'd forgotten he'd turned on his pokégear. That's not the case, though:]

Hey! Can you guys help me with something?

Yeah, he did. I knew the taller you, but it's nice to meet the shorter you, too!

[ ... yeah, it doesn't take much. ]

I get it... so it's kind of like a diary. A lot of stuff happens here, so good luck keeping it up-to-date!

[Sora has a pretty great image of himself being a giant when he gets older, what with everyone telling him how he's shorter than they remember.]

Thanks! I'm trying to write down everybody I meet talking on this thing, too.

[ alas, Sora, you will never be BUILDING TALL. ]

That's a good idea! That way you won't forget anybody, either.

[noooo, don't crush his hopes and dreams!]

Right! So where are you originally from, Kay?

California! Which is in the United States of America on the planet Earth. [ because by now, god knows who's from what planet. ]

Oh, I've heard of Earth before! Wilbur's from there, and he said he as a time machine.

Seriously?? I've never seen one of those except in movies!

I know! And he has really cool ships that don't sound anything like Gummi ships, and all this other high tech stuff. Man, I want to visit Earth..

He might be way in the future...

So what's California like?

It's warm most of the year, and we don't get snow at all. And there are some parts that have a lot of buildings and cars and people and some other parts where it's more in the mountains or forests.

Sounds kind of like where I'm from. Are there beaches?

Yeah, lots of them!

Really? Do you go fishing a lot? That's one of my favorite things to do back home!

Not in Los Angeles, since that's all city, but I did it a few times with my relatives when I was growing up.

... I wasn't very good at it, though!

[Sora opens his mouth to offer advice, but pauses, and just smiles instead. there's a tinge of homesickness somewhere in his expression; it's been too long since he last even saw the islands.]

Well.. There's gotta be fishing poles around here somewhere.. I could show you!

[ Kay's spotting that, and giving him a warmer smile in response. ]

That'd be great! The fish here are all different, too.

[homesick is easily assuaged; Sora's smile spreads into a huge grin.]

Pokémon, right? Maybe I'll catch something I can actually battle with! Puddles is too lazy.

Puddles?

Yeah, he's my giraffe.

[and Sora turns the pokégear away from himself momentarily- he caught the nearby Girafarig right in the middle of a huge yawn in between grazing sessions.]

See? He's so lazy.

-- But he's so cute! I didn't know they had giraffes!

[-- did someone just call Puddles cute? that caught the Girafarig's attention; he trots right on over and presses his face against the pokégear, hamming it up- enjoy the black screen and the sounds of snuffling and snorting, Kay.]

Hey! Puddles!

Whoa--! H-hi?

[the feed waves wildly for a minute as Sora tries to get the pokégear away from Puddles- after a while, the pokémon gives up and wanders back off to graze, but not before bleating a farewell to Kay- note to self, Sora, Puddles really really likes compliments.]

Sorry about that.

I don't mind! He's a friendly giraffe, isn't he?
