[When the video feed first clicks on, there isn't much in the way of visuals except blackness, interspersed with the occasional flash of dull light. The sounds are much more fascinating than the sights, as it were: something is snuffling at the pokégear, and after a moment there's a series of sharp thunks, as if someone were rapping against the microphone. Something is trying to eat it.]

-- Hey! Knock it off! Look, there's food in the bag if you're hungry..

[The feed swings around wildly as Sora snatches away and tries to wipe the pokégear off on his jumpsuit, then stops abruptly as he turns it over in his hand and stares straight into the camera, his expression bewildered. This thing looks more high-tech than the lifts in Hollow Bastion.]

Okay, I'm.. not really sure what I was expecting, but the everlasting Darkness is weird.

Um.

[rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. he has no idea who he's talking to- Sora's pretty sure the "no meddling in different worlds" rule is shot to all heck, so he'll just start recounting where he's been the last week and hope something clicks for the both of them.]

Well, I found this new Gummi block, so I took it back to Cid so he could install it on the ship, and then I brought the Moogles a bunch of stuff to synthesize, but the stuff I brought accidentally set the second floor of the shop on fire.. So I'm not allowed back in there for a while. Then we went to Hollow Bastion.

...

[Appreciably intervening on the poor confused boy's behalf was Gurren, doing what any Pokémon that understood the world better than his trainer and pointing said trainer to the string of video logs discussing that 'Sora' had vanished. And then the Quilava crossed its tiny little fingers that just maybe Kamina would be able to put two and two together.

Thankfully, the look of realization on his face showed that he wasn't as dumb as he looked sometimes.]

Huh... well how about that.

[He peers at the image in the screen, tilting his head to the side a couple times.]

Now that he mentions it, ya do look shorter than when I last saw ya and yer voice ain't right.

Ya must be new here then. Welcome to Johto, kid!

[there's a long, silent pause, as Sora simply stares at the Pokégear in bewilderment, before he winds up and pitches a barrage of questions.]

I'm shorter? I don't think I shrunk-- Wait, what's wrong with my voice? Johto?

[He's almost completely brushing aside most of those.]

Johto's this place we're in now. It's freakin' awesome! Ya go around fighting guys with these little critters-

[Kamina holds up Gurren to the screen for demonstration.]

and they've got all these weird-ass powers! You got one, don't ya?

Oh! You mean Puddles, right?

[he turns the Pokégear camera to the side, showcasing a Girafarig who, after having sifted through the contents of Sora's backpack, has managed to sling a strap around his neck and is carrying the bag around like a horse might carry a satchel.]

[He blinks a moment, seeing another one he's never run across before. It made him wonder just how many of these things there were.]

Uh, yeah... man, he doesn't look it. But most of these guys have some really cool powers!

[the screen is still focused on Puddles, with Sora speaking over it as if he were trying to shoot a home movie.]

Really? Hey, Puddles, do something powerful!

[the Girafarig stares silently for a moment, then opens its mouth wide, teeth bared, and--]

'fiiiiiiig!

[... well, in Puddles' defense, that was a powerful yawn.]

I guess he's tired.

[Well that wasn't impressive and it just wouldn't do to have this kid thinking he might be lying. So he makes a little gesture and soon his image on the screen is joined by his Quilava, draping across his shoulders.]

Well just cause I can't have ya thinkin' that maybe I'm wrong there...

[He gestures to his partner.]

This is Gurren and he'll be showin' ya exactly what I mean!

OI GURREN! SHOW OFF YER LAVA PLUME!

[Somehow, Kamina keeps the camera focused on the Pokémon as it leaps off his back, landing neatly on the ground before with what looks like some flailing of its tiny arms, it summons forth a rather-impressive(For its size anyway) plume of lava to erupt from the ground.

The video feed turning back to the blue-haired trainer, he grins confidently.]

THAT! is what I'm gettin' at.

Get's ya all worked up to be here now, doesn't it?!

[Sora's initial response is silence, staring in complete awe at the pokégear. he may have even forgotten to inhale for a few seconds.]

That's-- you--

[clenches his fists tightly.]

That's so cool! Puddles, did you see?! How did you teach him to do that? Whoa, I bet you never have to worry about not having a campfire..

[If his hands weren't being used to hold the PokéGear and scratch his partner on the head, he's probably be posing with his arms crossed.]

That's the great thing about these guys! Ya just teach 'em to fight and help 'em with that and they figure it out themselves!

[He chuckles as he follows up.]

Yeah, Gurren's a great hand to have around! Yers is kinda weird-lookin', so I've got no idea about what kinda stuff he'll be able to do once he's started learnin' to fight.

[Sora's just grinning like an idiot into the camera- Kamina has already shot to the top of his list of People Who Are Awesome with that display.]

We'll figure it out! Right Puddles? Do you want to try fighting something?

[the Girafarig stands straighter, pawing at the ground with a hoof- he'll give it his best shot!]

That's the spirit kid!

This place has got some great chances for adventure -ya just gotta rush out and meet it head-on!

[Gurren hastily skitters back up his arm and drapes itself over Kamina's shoulders, rather pleased with its little happy place.]

We'll see ya on the trail, kid! If ya get lost or somethin', just yell over this thing. The other guys around here ain't too bad, so help's never far away!

I will! We can battle sometime, right? You have to promise not to go easy on me, though!

[grins excitedly.]

Oh, hey, wait! What's your name?

[He props his shades up on his face, liking where this was going.]

Heh! Anytime ya want, the Great Kamina-sama will glad to put ya through the paces!

[Hey look, it's a twofer. At least he got both questions answered.]

I'm going to start training right now, then! You won't even know what hit you.

I'll hold ya to that, Sora!
