[When the video feed first clicks on, there isn't much in the way of visuals except blackness, interspersed with the occasional flash of dull light. The sounds are much more fascinating than the sights, as it were: something is snuffling at the pokégear, and after a moment there's a series of sharp thunks, as if someone were rapping against the microphone. Something is trying to eat it.]

-- Hey! Knock it off! Look, there's food in the bag if you're hungry..

[The feed swings around wildly as Sora snatches away and tries to wipe the pokégear off on his jumpsuit, then stops abruptly as he turns it over in his hand and stares straight into the camera, his expression bewildered. This thing looks more high-tech than the lifts in Hollow Bastion.]

Okay, I'm.. not really sure what I was expecting, but the everlasting Darkness is weird.

[Demyx and Forza will just be over here because what are you doing, kid. I already saw you.]

[Puddles seems aware of this, at least, and trots out from hiding. Sora tries to discreetly wave him back, whispering loudly]

Hey! Puddles! Get back here!

[nope, Puddles is more interested in wandering over to inspect Demyx curiously- i.e., stick his snout in Demyx's face.]

Heeeeey there, giraffe... thing!

[Puddles is going to get a cautious pat or two. Quite the vicious attack giraffe you have here, Sora.]

[isn't he just? well, if Puddles doesn't see Demyx as a threat, then Sora trusts his judgment.. he steps out from behind the house and tries to lead Puddles away- attack giraffe over here is looking for food.]

[He has no food! Well, that's a lie; his backpack has food, because he hasn't touched it yet.]

Okay, shoo now.

Puddles, leave him alone.

[fine, fine, Puddles trots back around to Sora's side, though he's eyeing that backpack awfully suspiciously.]

[Forza is now watching the Girafarig like a hawk, because the little Totodile would not appreciate having her food stolen!]

Puddles?

Yeah! He looks like a Puddles, don't you think?

[it's okay to question his logic Demyx, or just.. refuse to acknowledge it exists at all in this instance. Puddles won't make a move toward the backpack, though.]

I don't know, he doesn't even look like a water... type... thing.

Well, what would you have named him?

No idea. But not Puddles, that's for sure.

[This is kind of bizarre. But at least Sora's not attacking him, which is the important thing.]

Aw, I think he likes it.

[Sora's still a little too bitty to be pinged by Organization members, so Demyx is probably safe.]

So, uh.. What is this place?

[Talk about grateful.]

Apparently some place called Johto. I don't really know, I pretty much just got here myself.

[they could have probably been friends at one point, if it weren't for the Organization.]

Oh, well.. Safety in numbers, right? Where'd you get the dinosaur?

Guess so.

[Yeah, probably.]

Where'd you get the giraffe?

Beats me. He was here when I got here, and he seemed nice enough, so I fed him.

Same thing with my alligator. Minus the feeding.

Is it friendly?

[he crouches down near the Totodile, and offers his fist so she can sniff at it, if she wants.]

Seems like it, at least.

[........She just fistbumped you, Sora.]

[... that makes Sora grin like an idiot, and open his hand for a high five. now he wants to see if he can teach Puddles something similar.]

That's awesome!

[Puddles has hooves, Sora. Demyx will just watch as Forza reaches for a high five.]

[noooo, don't shatter his hopes and dreams-- he'll teach Puddles how to do something cool! high five delivered, Forza; Sora stands up straight, looking amused as all get out.]

[Forza is happy to entertain the kid, if it's that easy! And Demyx looks kind of amused at how easily Sora is amused.]

[he's still grinning, turning his attention to Demyx.]

So, where are you headed from here? Or are you gonna stick around?

There's only really one way to go, apparently... and not much to do around here. But I'm not big on traveling normally.
