[When the video feed first clicks on, there isn't much in the way of visuals except blackness, interspersed with the occasional flash of dull light. The sounds are much more fascinating than the sights, as it were: something is snuffling at the pokégear, and after a moment there's a series of sharp thunks, as if someone were rapping against the microphone. Something is trying to eat it.]

-- Hey! Knock it off! Look, there's food in the bag if you're hungry..

[The feed swings around wildly as Sora snatches away and tries to wipe the pokégear off on his jumpsuit, then stops abruptly as he turns it over in his hand and stares straight into the camera, his expression bewildered. This thing looks more high-tech than the lifts in Hollow Bastion.]

Okay, I'm.. not really sure what I was expecting, but the everlasting Darkness is weird.

Puddles? Why name a pokémon Puddles?

[Like he can be talking, he named his female Houndour Spike and refuses to believe that it's a female. Said Houndour can be in the background, almost looking like she wanted to facepalm right there.]

Uh, never heard of the place. Must be your alien home planet, huh?

Why not? You don't think he looks kind of like a Puddles?

[Sora can't help but laugh when he sees Spike, though.]

I'm actually from an alien planet called Destiny Islands. What planet are you from?

Not really. But whatever.

Destiny Islands? I'm from Earth. Only the coolest planet ever! Especially since...you know, my dad invented like everything there.

I've never been to Earth before! What's it like? Can you get there by Gummi Ship?

Earth is this awesome place that has technology with everything you can ever imagine!

[Wait, what?]

...I don't think you could get there by a ship made out of candy.

Well, it's not actually candy.. Though I've never tried to eat it before.

What kind of technology do you use to get to different worlds, if you don't have Gummi Ships?

Well of course you haven't. If you ate what you were traveling in, then you couldn't travel in it any more.

[He thinks he makes very good sense right there.]

We go in big, awesome space ships and stuff! Dad's working on making it better, though. He even made a time travel machine.

[... that does make sense, though Sora finds himself laughing anyway. he just pictured trying to fly through Gummispace with a tenth of his ship eaten. pfft, we don't need no stinkin' wings.]

That's incredible! I want to visit Earth someday.

[Sora laughing makes Wilbur smirk. Thank you, thank you! He'll be here...until his mom drags him home.]

You should. You'll be awed and amazed at it's...awesomeness! Might even take you on a ride in the time machine, too.

I like that idea. I want to jump ahead five years to see how tall I'll get.

Huh, never thought about doing that before. I might have to try it when I get home.

I just want to see if I'm taller than Riku!

Well, if you do get home, I'll see if I can figure out how to get to Earth on the Gummi Ship. You'll show me around, right?

Of course I will. [He loves showing off his father's stuff.] My family will probably love you too.

Uh, well..

[Sora lifts his hand and raises it to about an inch or so higher than the tallest tuft of his hair. lose the spikes, and Riku's looking at a good couple of inches taller than him.]

Okay! And if you ever get a chance to visit Destiny Islands.. Well, there aren't any time machines, but the beaches and the fishing are great.

[Wilbur just watches, and snickers.] Look like you have a long way to go to catch up, buddy.

The beach does sound pretty cool. The only thing about having a genius for a father is that you don't go on super awesome vacations very often.

Maybe I should just grow out my hair so I look taller.

Really? You don't get to travel with him or anything?

That could work too. Providing he doesn't get a whole lot taller, anyway.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

... I'll just have really crazy hair, then.

That's cool that you got to travel with him sometimes, though. Before I left, I didn't know anything past the islands.
