[When the video feed first clicks on, there isn't much in the way of visuals except blackness, interspersed with the occasional flash of dull light. The sounds are much more fascinating than the sights, as it were: something is snuffling at the pokégear, and after a moment there's a series of sharp thunks, as if someone were rapping against the microphone. Something is trying to eat it.]

-- Hey! Knock it off! Look, there's food in the bag if you're hungry..

[The feed swings around wildly as Sora snatches away and tries to wipe the pokégear off on his jumpsuit, then stops abruptly as he turns it over in his hand and stares straight into the camera, his expression bewildered. This thing looks more high-tech than the lifts in Hollow Bastion.]

Okay, I'm.. not really sure what I was expecting, but the everlasting Darkness is weird.

[when the camera focuses on Sora again, he looks concerned.]

No, I haven't. Is she okay? She got her heart back and everything, right?

_{[Heather ticked her head to the side slightly. Her 'heart' back...? ... Was he talking about Namine? This gal has little to no clue about the crazy physics behind the Destiny Island kids.]}

Uh... I think so. She was fine when I last saw her.

_{[Or close to fine. Y'know, she'd been... coping. But pretty good, considering.]}

[it's hard to smear off that huge, completely-disabled-by-tiny-blue-elephant grin, but when he finally manages, he moves his hand to offer it to Pearl instead, his smile downgraded to something softer and more reassuring.]

That's probably okay for now. At least until we figure out what he likes to eat, right?

Is there even a treatment for The Shrinks?

[pauses.]

... That would be really weird. Maybe I could just be like Jiminy and hang out in someone's hood.

[A hand. What do you do with a hand? She knows this one, Mr. Nick taught her to-... Aha!

With barely any hesitation, (no matter WHAT he meant to offer it for,) she reaches out to shake it, oddly businesslike for a ten year old. Guess who spent the last year with a lawyer.

As for his words, she glances to Fanny, who's caaaasually reaching his trunk up and into the bag of whatever it is that the much larger (and slightly scarier) pokemon is eating. And then he's caaaasually sliding it out to stuff some in his face. He thinks he's so sly, yes he does.]

...Am I supposed to teach him manners, or is this okay? [She assumes he knows more about this place than she does, since he's ~older~.]

[considering Sora's track record, most likely! Sora and Puddles both peek around the corner of a house, not even realizing that their cover was blown long after first noticing Demyx. oops.]

[Sora was about to defend his naming conventions again, but that hand.]

Uh.. Riku? You might wanna move..

Oh, good! Good.. it worked, then.

[grins widely; he always does at the mention of Kairi.]

Do you know where she is now? How do I get to her?

...uh.

[Demyx and Forza will just be over here because what are you doing, kid. I already saw you.]

Now what?

[He glances to the side, and in that time, his Pokegear is SCOOPED out of his hands, and there's a niiiiice close up of this here creepy ghost, who opens his mouth WIDE and lets out a faint cackle.]

Oi kid! What the hell are ya goin' on about?

And where the hell are ya, anyway? Ya missed lunch by almost a damn week!

_{[GOSH HE'S SO LITTLE, HOW DID THIS EVEN HAPPEN-- ahem.]}

Okay-- the last I talked to her was maybe a week ago at most, and she was in a place called Violet City. If you're-- uh, where everyone usually shows up when they get here, it's... quite a walk from where you are. Two weeks, at least.

But I bet Kairi will stick around there once she knows you're here.

[And then the ghostie vanishes, letting the PokeGear drop to the ground. Luckily, Riku's got everything back under control now.]

... Should've expected that.

[a handshake works just fine; Sora returns it back happily.]

You've got a great handshake! And don't worry about him. There's plenty for everybody.

[that, and Sora would personally consider punishing Fanny equivalent to kicking kittens or punching puppies. he draws his hand back once the handshake has slowed, though he remains crouched on one knee, closer to Pearl's level.]

So what's your name? Mine's Sora.

[Sora's expression is blank, and his face pale, like he just saw a ghost. ha-ha. Riku didn't hear him scream, either. nope. not at all, what are you talking about?]

-- Two weeks?! But that's--

[lowers his head, droooooooping. even his hair is drooping.]

[...Oh, Sora. Poor Sora.]

Relax. It's just another Pokemon.

_{[... oh god no teenySora don't feel bad!]}

Really, it's not so bad!

In fact I'd bet that if you can get hold of her over the PokeGear-- ... er, that's this... thing we're talking through-- she'd even come meet you halfway or something!

[Puddles seems aware of this, at least, and trots out from hiding. Sora tries to discreetly wave him back, whispering loudly]

Hey! Puddles! Get back here!

[nope, Puddles is more interested in wandering over to inspect Demyx curiously- i.e., stick his snout in Demyx's face.]

I'm sure there's one out there, someplace!

But I think if it's a magical midget curse, you'll be alright in this place.

My name's Pearl. Pearl Fey, from the Kurain Channeling School. But... I don't know where that is from here.

... What?

[pauses as he tries to remember what he was even doing last week. flying? trying to bargain with Moogles? probably both.]

[Wait! How could she have forgotten!? When she meets his eyes again, she looks quite determined.] I'm looking for Mystic Maya. Can you tell me where she is?

Really? Hang on a second, Heather--

[cue the frantic smashing of buttons- the screen fizzles to black momentarily, but he can still be heard talking to the Pokégear.]

Kairi? Kairi! Are you there? Hello?

[the video cuts back on after a minute.]

Um.. Does she have a number, or something?

Heeeeey there, giraffe... thing!

[Puddles is going to get a cautious pat or two. Quite the vicious attack giraffe you have here, Sora.]
