[even though Sora always has, and always will believe his mantra that there is no such thing as never seeing a friend again-- enough so that it's a sentiment he's willing to share with the rest of the network-- some days and some unexpected goodbyes are just plain harder than others.]

[it's part of the reason why it's well into the afternoon and he's still in his pajamas, and on and off beneath the covers and staring off some distance, lost in thought. Sora had managed to keep to himself for most of last week, and has made a point not to not bring up any behavior he might have witnessed with Riku, but... now that it's all worn off, he just feels miserable. too many people to miss. thinking about how Kairi isn't here is an intrusive thought he can't seem to really shake, either.]

[still, unkempt as Sora is today, he still manages to arrive at one conclusion that... takes the edge off, at least: it's all right to be sad. it's all right to hurt, especially when you lose someone that means the worlds to you, even if it's been a while... but now's a good reminder as any that there are still people here that he loves, and needs to stay with. meeting the rest again will happen when the time is right. right?]

[to that end, everyone Sora has ever spoken with, even if it was just once or twice, and... well, even if they didn't speak on very pleasant terms, might find a text message popping onto their 'gears:]

[The question catches him a little offguard.] What do you care?

So I know where you are! Going home wouldn't... well, I wouldn't want you to go home, that's all.

Why wouldn't you? [He can't quite buy that.]

Because. I don't really know what's waiting for you back home, but here is probably better, right?

[based on what he knows from what Ven told him, anyway. heck, there's nothing good waiting for Sora back home, either.]

[Quiet, he's just staring through the screen with a frown for a few moments. In the end, he turns his nose up a little, turning his head away.]

It is. [A ten year sleep, having returned to Ventus.]

You don't deserve to be unhappy all the time.

You've been told what I've done. [Why wouldn't you think I deserve it? Curious, but still defensive, Vanitas isn't sure why he hasn't felt like hanging up yet.]

[Vanitas can't help narrowing his eyebrows.] Then why do you think that? I know plenty who would rather I never existed. [The ones from the worlds he invaded, who were hurt by his rampant emotions, not just the ones who dealt with him directly.]

Because we're connected, Vanitas. [said as if that's the only reason he needs to care-- well, to him, it is.]

[Hearing him say it makes Vanitas jerk slightly, unsure about the feeling he's getting; it's suspicious, and he can't say he likes it. Turning his head a bit the other direction now, his eyes on the screen, Vanitas is inadvertently leaning away from the Gear.

Actually, he's a little speechless even, not sure what to say.]

[that's all right, Sora will just smile lightly at the screen. he expects silence and even awkwardness, especially considering how they've been getting on ever since they met.]

[His expression remained at a suspicious frown, but in the end, he lowered his eyes and turned his gaze away.]

I wonder if Ventus' stupid rubbed into you when you connected with him. [It's the same kind of feeling he gets when Ventus is kind to him; he just doesn't... understand it yet.]

I guess there's really no way of knowing for sure. Apparently it happened right when I was born.

It probably did, then. [His tone was quieter, thoughtful. There's a long pause before he speaks again.]

I had no face until you did that.

No... face?

I was created with my helmet on. [So, no need for a 'face'. You know?] The reason I look like this is due to you connecting to Ventus.

[Sora, at this point, you've got to stop trying to figure out your own canon, seriously.]

How do you see with no face? How do you...

[He has to shrug here; it's not like he ever saw a mirror and saw what kind of 'face' he had until this one.]

I don't know. I could see, eat and breathe, and that was all that mattered.

Is it strange for you? I wish you could have your own face, if you wanted it...

Not really. I never gave it much thought until coming here.

Not anymore, I guess. [Glancing up and idly piecing a patch of hair that now hung a bit shaggy into his eyes.] I've made it mine, for the time being.

... When I first found out what you looked like, it... really made me mad. [and scared the tar out of him, but Sora's not about to admit it.]

I guess I never really considered that you didn't have a say in it, either.
