[memories are a strange thing.]

[on some days, one could stand up from their seat, head out the door with a determined fire in their eyes, and... completely forget what they got up for in the first place. sometimes retracing one's steps doesn't even help. other days, one could have a song from their childhood stuck in their head without any particular reason. it's as if one's brain simply decided to turn on a recording.]

[other days still, you could be minding your own business, when suddenly, bam! something triggers an onslaught of memories you didn't know you had, if they're even yours to begin with. apparently, this phenomenon hurts one's noggin quite a bit.]

[in any case, this may explain why a confused but energetic kid steps out of Mom's house in New Bark Town, 'gear and gear in hand, and... promptly faceplants. for those of you watching the feed, it cuts in when the pokégear hits the ground. this unfortunate memory victim is down for the count for a few minutes-- at least, until that familiar pop of a pokéball can be heard offscreen, and a Girafarig appears on screen to start chewing on his trainer's mess of brown spiky hair.]

[considering where Sora is from, and where he is-- and the Girafarig, too-- this is entirely normal. when the feed finally times out, Sora's awake and coherent enough to try to bat Puddles away. worst alarm clock ever, honestly.]

[a light shrug on his end. Puddles suddenly breaks away, having taken an interest in a nearby patch of grass, which gets a relieved sigh out of Sora. he can deal with giraffe spit better than he can deal with being bald.]

What really bothers me more is the time I've apparently lost, I guess. I didn't... miss out on building the house, did I?

[ His eyes widen a touch. He swallows. ]

The house is finished.

[ Oh, Sora. It's you. ]

We had a big opening party. [ He neglects to mention that Sora was there! Since he obviously doesn't remember it. ] I can send you a picture, if you want.

Of course I want to see a picture! I'm just... I'm sorry I wasn't there to help, Leon.

[ Sending the picture! ]

Don't worry about it. There's a bunk there with your name on it, if you want it.

[there's a pause as Sora admires his friends' handiwork. and he didn't even get to hammer a nail...]

You bet I do, Leon! I wanna meet up with you and Lightning at some point, too.

You'll get the chance. We'll be heading back as soon as I get the Rising Badge--how did you know I was here with Lightning?

I talked to her! She said you and her moved on and Hope stuck behind in Olivine.

...right. [ Pause. ] We're travelling together for a little bit, until I get the rest of the badges.

[Sora tilts his head slightly, just watching Leon-- almost as if he's thoughtful about something.]

[... ... ... ...]

[nope, he's still oblivious.]

That's one of my favorite parts about Johto, I think. Traveling with your friends.

[ GOODNESS GRACIOUS HAS HE BEEN FOUND OUT--no wait pffft this is Sora ]

I'm thinking we might stay in Ecruteak for a little while. I hear the fall colours are something else.

Really? It was really pretty in Violet last year, but we don't really get the fall foliage thing back home, either.

Temperature-wise? More or less the same, though it does get colder at the end of the year. It rains a lot in the summer, too.
