[When the video feed first clicks on, there isn't much in the way of visuals except blackness, interspersed with the occasional flash of dull light. The sounds are much more fascinating than the sights, as it were: something is snuffling at the pokégear, and after a moment there's a series of sharp thunks, as if someone were rapping against the microphone. Something is trying to eat it.]

-- Hey! Knock it off! Look, there's food in the bag if you're hungry..

[The feed swings around wildly as Sora snatches away and tries to wipe the pokégear off on his jumpsuit, then stops abruptly as he turns it over in his hand and stares straight into the camera, his expression bewildered. This thing looks more high-tech than the lifts in Hollow Bastion.]

Okay, I'm.. not really sure what I was expecting, but the everlasting Darkness is weird.

[... that does make sense, though Sora finds himself laughing anyway. he just pictured trying to fly through Gummispace with a tenth of his ship eaten. pfft, we don't need no stinkin' wings.]

That's incredible! I want to visit Earth someday.

Well.. I guess if you're thinking of your friends, they're probably thinking of you, too. It's just a feeling I have. I'm not sure how to explain it.

[Well that wasn't impressive and it just wouldn't do to have this kid thinking he might be lying. So he makes a little gesture and soon his image on the screen is joined by his Quilava, draping across his shoulders.]

Well just cause I can't have ya thinkin' that maybe I'm wrong there...

[He gestures to his partner.]

This is Gurren and he'll be showin' ya exactly what I mean!

OI GURREN! SHOW OFF YER LAVA PLUME!

[Somehow, Kamina keeps the camera focused on the Pokémon as it leaps off his back, landing neatly on the ground before with what looks like some flailing of its tiny arms, it summons forth a rather-impressive(For its size anyway) plume of lava to erupt from the ground.

The video feed turning back to the blue-haired trainer, he grins confidently.]

THAT! is what I'm gettin' at.

Get's ya all worked up to be here now, doesn't it?!

It's a world overrun by the Heartless. I was supposed to seal the Keyhole, but that.. kind of didn't work out.

[to that last tidbit of information, he droops.]

Oh..

I left my backpack over there. I'll be right back! [And she's turning and hurrying back toward the alleyway--she doesn't want to keep Sora waiting! Fanny's right at her heels, trunk still raised almost like a submarine's periscope.]

Huh? [As she grabs her pack, she spots a certain device. Slowly, she picks it up, looks it over, and heads back to Sora.]

I found this! I think it's a cell phone. [It... doesn't really look like Mr. Nick's cell phone did, but hey, they're not all the same, are they?]

Heartless, huh? [Somehow that sounds...weird. Maybe Riku was onto something before] Were there really all that many?

[And then upon seeing Sora's reaction...]

Hey, it'll be okay! From what I hear, when we do go home, we're right back at the same moment we'd left.

I won't forget! I'll even write everything down, just to make extra sure.

[pats his person frantically, er.. yeah, Sora's a little lacking in the paper and pen department. he'll have to get on that.]

Hey, do you want to meet Puddles, Kairi?

[Sora's initial response is silence, staring in complete awe at the pokégear. he may have even forgotten to inhale for a few seconds.]

That's-- you--

[clenches his fists tightly.]

That's so cool! Puddles, did you see?! How did you teach him to do that? Whoa, I bet you never have to worry about not having a campfire..

... Yeah. Some guy named Ansem was trying to open the doorway to the Keyhole. The Heartless were already running the place as it was.

[unfortunately, that's not particularly reassuring either. will he fade back to the Darkness if he ever goes back? Sora taps his chin, thoughtful with a splash of worry.]

[Sora strides after her, blinking in recognition at the device in her hands-- he reaches into his pocket and pulls out his own.]

Look, I've got one, too.

[he bends down slightly to show her, the gear sitting on his outstretched palm. it looks slightly chewed on. Puddles lets out a quiet "'fig," a few feet away, feigning innocence.]

Man, I didn't think there were that many of them out there...

Yeah..

[he blinks, then perks up suddenly, realizing something.]

Hey, wait- you know what the Heartless are?

[Ven's a bit puzzled, but the expression fades quickly enough]

Well yeah, I've run into a few. Sounds like you've seen loads more.

Unfortunately. They swallowed my home.

Wh- really? [stunned for a spell] I...I'm sorry to hear that.

... It's okay. When I do get home, the first thing I'm gonna do is seal the Keyhole in Hollow Bastion. Then I'll find a way to restore the islands.

-- Hey, uh.. Since you know about Heartless and everything.. have we met before?

That's... [a really good question]

I think we might come from the same, uh...set of worlds, I guess you could say. But you were also here before, and we met then.

... I'm sorry that I don't remember. And that I got shorter.

[pfft, Sora, you crack him up]

Hey, it's okay! Can't blame you for either of those things.

So let's start over.

[have a big, cheerful grin]

My name's Ventus, but you can call me Ven if you like. Nice to meet you, Sora!

[If his hands weren't being used to hold the PokéGear and scratch his partner on the head, he's probably be posing with his arms crossed.]

That's the great thing about these guys! Ya just teach 'em to fight and help 'em with that and they figure it out themselves!

[He chuckles as he follows up.]

Yeah, Gurren's a great hand to have around! Yers is kinda weird-lookin', so I've got no idea about what kinda stuff he'll be able to do once he's started learnin' to fight.

[he grins right back, and, well, he can't really help himself when he waves to the camera. it's instinct.]

Nice to meet you, too, Ven! Have you got one of these pokémon things with you?

[Ven's happy to wave right back]

Actually, I've been here a while, so I've got four now! Wanna see?

Oh?

Yeah, I'd love to.
