Sora
Personality:
Sora's heart and main source of strength lie within his friends. They are his motivation, his guidance and his answers when he searches for meaning. In fact, his own personal wants and desires revolve almost entirely around finding and being with the people he is closest to: the underlying motive behind any of his journeys outside Destiny Islands is to find friends who are missing, while helping out any friends he may make along the way. Sora's fierce loyalty toward his friends leads him to make sometimes rash decisions: for Kairi, he willingly gave his life by releasing his heart to free hers, which had taken refuge inside him. For Riku, he traipsed the universe and tore down any negative feelings Riku had harbored against him.
It can be stressful to bear the weight of troubles that are not one's own, but Sora generally cheerfully does so without a second thought or much semblance of stress. This is less apparent as a younger, slightly apathetic 14 year old, most likely because he at first cared more about finding Riku and Kairi than he did the Keyblade; however, as Sora progressed through the worlds and sealed away their Hearts, he came to accept that he had a job to do, and the inhabitants of the worlds were depending on him.
He is generally optimistic and outgoing, but feels powerful emotions: if provoked enough, it can be difficult to assuage his desire to fight an opponent. If frustrated, he can become sarcastic: when told the Gummi Ship only runs on happy faces in Traverse Town, Sora was not really feeling it and responded with the best- worst- fake smile he could muster.
As powerfully as he may feel negative emotions, though, he's easily cheered up or reassured. It very rarely takes more than a pep talk and a pat on the shoulder to steer Sora back in the right direction toward his goals. Sora is always happy to return the sentiment, and will attempt to cheer up anyone he comes across who is down.
There is rarely- if ever- a time when Sora is not willing to help someone out of a rough spot, even if he's in a rough spot himself-- his attempts to help the injured Beast despite having lost the Keyblade and his friends is a good example. Friends and strangers alike can count on his assistance, and his assistance usually includes an attempt to offer advice and backup when needed. Needless to say, Sora is not always the best at following the "no meddling" rule. Though he may try to give someone the space he or she needs to solve a problem, Sora more often than not finds himself involved anyway, and once he does step in, there's no turning back- despite King Triton demanding he not meddle in the affairs of Atlantica and find the Keyhole, Sora continued to help Ariel and search for it anyway.
Although Sora willingly follows his friends to the ends of the universe, he has an exceptional ability to judge character, and will gladly tell off- and fight against if he must- his friends who stray down the wrong path. At this point in his life, his own morality very rarely comes into question, and he will fight to the death to defend it. He didn't ask for, nor did he particularly want to be the Keybearer at first, but for the sake of his best friends and the friends he's just met, Sora has willingly accepted the Keyblade- after all, it is his duty.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Sora makes friends with people extremely easily, giving him a wide range of allies and someone to lean on should his own defenses crumble. He is very rarely left to sort out his emotions alone, and by drawing strength from the support of his friends, he is able to overcome adversity. Or, at least, he is able to gather to courage to attempt.
Because of his optimistic nature, Sora is able to help pull someone else out of an emotional funk. Pep talks and flat-out provoking someone into doing the right thing are included in his repertoire. Though he will sit down and listen to someone and offer his insight, Sora prefers to be an active force, actually doing something about a friend's problem, and will encourage his friend to do the same. This happens time and time again during his travels, from his attempt to help prove Alice's innocence in Wonderland to saving Riku from Ansem.
Sora's strength in judging a person's character and his confidence in what he believes makes it difficult for an enemy to lead him down a knowingly wrong path. He is stubborn, and won't leave behind anybody he cares about, no matter how far into the darkness they've fallen, or how low they've sunk.
Weaknesses:
If someone pushes the right button, Sora is very easily provoked. Simply threaten a friend, and one will have a very angry and belligerent Keybearer to contend with. On a similar note, it is possible to take advantage of Sora's loyalty to his friends and manipulate him, but if he catches wind of any malicious intent, he'll just as quickly turn against and fight whoever is trying to control him.
The same stubbornness that drives him also can also disable him: should someone anger Sora enough, he has no qualms about holding a grudge, tracking them down and possibly getting himself into trouble. Should that same person show themselves to be benevolent, however, Sora forgives just as easily, which could easily be another exploitable weakness.
Sora relies so heavily on the strength of his friends and cares for them so deeply, he is terrified of being left alone, and does not function very well by himself. When Riku stole the Keyblade from him in Hollow Bastion, and Donald and Goofy left to follow the Keyblade, Sora collapsed to the ground in despair, and almost gave up his fight entirely, had it not been for the Beast.

... When I first met Jiminy Cricket, he told me it was his job to write down in his journal everything that happens when we're traveling together. I don't know where he is anymore- I don't even know where I am anymore- but I'm gonna make sure that whatever I find and do here, he has a record of it.
It's kind of my fault we got separated in the first place, after all. I don't want him to get in trouble. I'll make this the most in-depth journal he's ever seen! Every single place I go, every single person I meet..
Hey! Is anybody out there? Can you tell me where I am? What's your name? Hang on a sec, let me write that down..
Can you tell me why there's a giraffe following me?
Third Person Sample:
Sora had quite frankly expected the everlasting Darkness to be a bit more, well... dark. It had certainly felt that way at first: he vaguely remembered catching a glimpse of light-- Kairi's heart, he supposed, he hoped-- leaving him before he succumbed to the urge to sleep, and he fell through the floor, through the earth below, away from everything and everyone he remembered.
He wasn't really sure he understood why the Darkness had melded from a blinding blackness to a comfortable, cozy town with a warm breeze Sora likened to the treetops of the Deep Jungle. Was he actually trapped in the Darkness, or was he somehow confined to his own heart? Why did a bizarre giraffe as tall as he is follow him as he ambled out of town, and stood in front of him the moment another person chose to approach? Why was the giraffe's tail staring at him?
Sora tried to look past and at the person between himself and the creature- he was a medium-sized man wearing a black shirt emblazoned with a red R. Sora shifted uncomfortably, uncertain if the tension was the result of the man, or the fact that the very likely possessed tail was maintaining its appraising glare, like it knew something. He could feel guilt swell up in his throat. He knew what he had to do to save Kairi; she was Sora's first priority as not only his best friend, but as a Princess. But he had left his friends behind to handle the Heartless themselves. He had failed to seal the Keyhole in Hollow Bastion. Riku.. He had failed to help him, to make sure he made it back home safely, too.
It was like being stared down by a Qilin. The Qilin, if he remembered what he'd read a few years ago correctly, harmed only the wicked. It felt like a blunt blow to his confidence. Sora sidestepped from his guilt, focusing his gaze instead on the man before him.
"Hey, uh. Do you know where--"
Sora stopped when he noticed the strange animal staring at the man with the same hardened expression he had just managed to escape. When the man barked a laugh, a sinister curl in his lips, Sora realized that it wasn't him the creature was threatening- it seemed more it was trying to protect him.
He stood at its side. When it turned its head slightly to look at him, Sora responded with a small, trusting smile.
"Relax. We'll take care of this goon together."
